HIGH SPEED CHASE NETS MARIJUANA -- FROM COLORADO....
LAW ENFORCEMENT FROM MONTAGUE COUNTY TOOK PART IN A HIGH-SPEED VEHICLE PURSUIT LAST MONDAY THAT RESULTED IN ONE ARREST AND THE SEIZURE OF 11 POUNDS OF MARIJUANA. DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY TROOPER BRANDON NEFF INITIATED A TRAFFIC STOP, FOR NO REGISTRATION, ALONG THE SOUTHBOUND SIDE OF U.S. HIGHWAY 287. AFTER THE DRIVER CAME TO A STOP AND THE TROOPER EXITED HIS VEHICLE, THE DRIVER SPED AWAY. NEFF GAVE PURSUIT AT SPEEDS IN EXCESS OF 100 MILES PER HOUR ALONG U.S. HIGHWAY 287. DURING THE PURSUIT, A DUFFEL BAG WAS THROWN OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THE BAG WAS RETRIEVED BY A CITIZEN AND TAKEN TO THE POLICE. INVESTIGATOR CHRIST HAMILTON OF THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S OFFICE SAID THE ESTIMATED VALUE OF THE MARIJUANA WAS $55,000. JORDAN HALPENNY, 21, OF AURORA, COLORADO WAS CHARGED WITH POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA GREATER THAN 5 POUNDS AND LESS THAN 50 POUNDS, AND EVADING ARREST WITH A VEHICLE. HIS BONDS WERE SET AT A TOTAL OF $25,000.
